Sandplay
Sandplay allows an adult to express themselves in a three dimensional picture-story form. It is a highly effective way of expressing and or integrating the psyche on many different levels.
It is particularly effective with children since it is predominantly a non-verbal therapy, and extremely supportive where language and cognitive understanding of unsettled or unintegrated soul issues predominates.
Adults can have profound revelations and understandings from this subtle yet highly effective way of unfolding or exposing aspects of the psyche. The expressive process and finished creation, can be very revealing, helpful and potentially healing - understanding and integration can take place.
Sandplay, as practised at Noosa Therapy Studio, Doonan, has originated from the profound work of Carl Jung and his understanding of humans and their symbols. Symbols have meaning in all cultures. However, a symbol does not necessarily have the same meaning for one person as it does for another, particularly in dreams. Across many cultures, nevertheless, there are symbols which can have common meaning - archetypal symbols.
Sandplay, accompanied by Gestalt work, has been a highly effective Self exploration tool for many adults.
Sandplay utilises a sandbox with sand and a substantial variety of symbols from which to choose.
A session takes around one and a half hours for an adult.
